Editorial Standards

Last updated: 2026-04-18

PDF Genie publishes tutorials and guides that help people work with PDF files. We take accuracy seriously. This page explains how we research, write, review, and update our content — and how to reach us if you spot a mistake.

How we write

Every guide is written by a member of the PDF Genie team who has personally used the tool being documented. We test workflows end-to-end on real files before we publish — no generated screenshots, no paraphrased instructions from competitor sites. When we cite a number (a file-size reduction percentage, a processing limit, a feature cap), we have measured it ourselves.

How we review and update

Every post is reviewed by at least one additional team member before it is published. Articles are re-reviewed at least once per year, and any time we ship a product change that materially affects the workflow described. When a post is meaningfully updated, we increment the dateModified field in the article metadata and add a short "last updated" note near the top.

AI and automation disclosure

We use AI tools to help with research, spelling/grammar checks, and initial drafts of code snippets. Every article is written, edited, and fact-checked by humans before publication. We do not publish machine-generated content unreviewed.

Corrections policy

If you find a factual error, outdated instruction, or broken link, please contact us. We aim to acknowledge correction requests within one business day, and to publish a corrected version within one week when the issue is verified. For material errors (incorrect product pricing, a step that can cause data loss), we update the article immediately and add a visible correction note describing what changed and when.

Independence and funding

PDF Genie is funded by Pro subscriptions and, on free tool pages, by display advertising (Google AdSense). Advertising placement has no influence on editorial content. We do not take sponsored post placements, do not publish vendor-supplied articles under our byline, and do not accept payment to recommend specific third-party tools. When we mention a competitor or complementary product, we do so on its merits.
